The Nasal Valve is the narrowest area located just inside the nostril, which regulates the airflow entering the nose. When this valve weakens, narrows, or collapses due to various reasons (weak cartilage, trauma, or post-unsuccessful rhinoplasty), it is called Nasal Valve Insufficiency. It is one of the most difficult-to-diagnose and most bothersome causes of nasal obstruction for the patient. Insufficiency usually occurs in the external (nostril alae) or internal valve area.
